Climate changes and its adverse impact on children.
February 17, 2010 1 CommentGolachipa , Bangladesh : “My father told me that Mokbul you stay here. Water is rising rapidly. I am going to make free our cattle. Otherwise all of our cattle’s will die. By saying this father went out from our shed. I am waiting for his return. But he did not come. Water surrounded us. I am shouting for my father. The whole underchar (a remote island) were so dark that nothing can be seen except furious waves of flood water. I became afraid by thinking my fathers destiny and waiting with tears for my fathers missing. Finally we got him next morning. Just to make our cattle free, my father has gone forever from the earth. I along with my father have gone to underchar for cattle rearing. We had no relatives there. The Char is more than 40 miles from our plain land locality. What I will do with this dead body.
Hundreds of people died, who will take care to him. The situation was so painful that I was going to be senseless. Finally some people came and helped me to bring the dead body to our home.”
Continuously the adverse situation of climate change was described by 10 years child Mokbul. He was telling the story of his fathers miserable dead.
He added that-“once I went this char by catching my father’s hand to help him cattle rearing but I was that unfortunate boy who returned home with his father’s dead body. Still I cannot remember those tremendous days.” By losing his father now Mokbul became helpless. At the same time his younger brother (5 years old) is now attacked by hepatitis due to taken contaminated water in absence of his mother. Because poverty and hunger is so powerful that it made bound her mother to work in the street repair work for the whole day. She cannot take care of her children. So they are growing without care.
It was the devastating impacts of cyclone SIDR, 2007. Hundreds of children lost their fathers. Hundreds of women lost their husband and turned in to widows.
It is true that women and children are the serious victim of climate changes. Ibrahim’s (Dead by SIDR, 2007) family is a glaring example of it. We don’t know how they will be rehabilitated. Is there any positive impact of Copenhagen conference towards these victims?
Our argument is to all development partners –please look after these coastal belt climate victims and think about their children.

Hepatitis could lead to liver cirrhosis if you did not maintain a healthy lifestyle.~-~
