Sharonkhola,Bagerhat is a severely Cyclone SIDR,2007 affected area of the country. An indigenous community named Cobbler is living at the river side of the Bhaloshor River which became very furious during the time of cyclone. As they are lower cast people so normally general people don’t come to them and mix with them. They were seriously affected by the cyclone SIDR but they don’t got any house from any donor because they have no land for their own. Each and every family is a very low income family. Their husbands are repair shows which are reducing day by day. Female members of the family are trying to earn some money by sewing warm cloths and doing work outside. Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh: Farmers had begun to thresh their paddy in Nachol by mid-May. The harvest, they said was good and the dry weather had in fact been helpful for the boro paddy. But the dry midday heat was stifling and unlike the humid weather typical of most of the other areas of Bangladesh in general. The dry weather had persisted for long as many a farmer agreed. The land is all hard now and without a few days of rain we will not be able to plant anyway, says Naresh Mardi, , a 60 years old farmer from Benipur, Nachol, Chapainawabganj and also a member of an ethnic minority group. He adds laughingly, And if it rained the boro harvest might not have been this good. Either way it will be bad. The yard used to be full with chickens running about. Masuma Khatun, a 50 years old Farmer from Shimna, Dinajpur said she had about 60 or 70 chickens as she fried corn and fresh rice as snacks for all the labourers working on their fields. ‘It was not the flu they were talking about. It was just a few days ago. I think the heat really got to them. ‘BARAIYA teraiya bodlasey,’ says Sameda Banu, 42 years old Farmer of Baraura, Moulvibazar, Bangladesh, referring to the local terms for the heavy rainfall they expect on the 12th and 13th days of the Bengali month of Baishakh (towards the end of April). She indicates that rainfall has drastically reduced in the recent years. ‘Due to the shortage of rains our crop production has suffered a lot.
