300 villages brought under flood rehab programme

Dhaka, Bangladesh: Some 300 flood-affected villages in districts have been brought under a Flood Restoration and Recovery Assistance Programme, being implemented with assistance from the World Bank.

Of the flood-affected villages, 150 are in Jamalpur district, 100 in Gaibandha and 50 in Sirajganj district.

Social Development Foundation and Palli Karma Shahayak Foundation are implementing the 25-million US$ programme in the districts devastated by floods in 2007.

SDF recently distributed Tk 4 lakh as initiation fund under the project in four villages in Sadar upazila of Sirajganj, said a press release on Sunday.
