Khulna, Bangladesh : “I saw little rain at first as usual and I did not care about this rainfall. After sometimes, I realized huge wind and storm. We faced Aila suddenly without any weather forecasting. Everybody was running on the road of Obdah to save life. The road sank into water .Many parents have lost their children because of flow tide of river at the time of Aila. I went to the building near to our house with my family to take shelter. Many people took shelter on boats and trollers. I had a house but I have lost it in Aila. Now, I am living beside the road.”. This is the voice of 30 years old climate victim Anowara Khatun of Koyera Upazila in Khulna district about the situation of Aila. Morshad, Khulna
Khulna, Bangladesh : “Before Aila I was a beggar. But now I am totally dependent on relief with my family. I am not suitable for begging now. Before Aila, I was living beside the road and now I am living on this terminal of Kopotakkho Nod. I am very poor. I had a tiny house and I have lost it because of Aila”. This is the voice of climate victim Morshad Gazi of Koyera in Khulna. His age is almost 75 and he lives just beside the Kopotakkho Nod with his family.
He told about the situation of Aila ,“I saw rain at first as usual and I did not care about this. After sometimes, I realized huge wind and storm. Somsu , Khulna
Khulna, Bangladesh : “Suddenly water came and our house went under water. We were busy to save life leaving everything in danger. After the destruction of Aila , we came back to see the condition and saw that everything floated and went with the water of Aila. I have lost my domestic animals and birds with my valuable things”. This is the voice of climate victim Somsu about the situation of Aila. He is an old man of 65 years old and living in Modinabagh of Khulna district.

Khulna, Bangladesh : “Suddenly my house was broken by a huge cyclone. I did not get any time to move my valuable things from house .We were busy to save life forgetting everything. We did not understand that this cyclone will destroy everything such dangerously. Everything floated and went suddenly with the water of Aila”. Nine old persons die of cold in the last four days in three affected unions
Khulna, Bangladesh: Cold is now another name of ‘cruelty’ to the severely Aila-affected people of Dacope upazila in Khulna district of Bangladesh, observed the leader of the Nagarik Parishad there, Dr Achintya Kumar Biswas. He said that that a total of 50,000 out of 60,000 affected people have been living on the sides of the roads that go through the beels (swamps) or by the river banks. Read more...
