Hasina calls for separate fund for LDCs, MVCs

Dhaka to raise S Asia’s suffering at Copenhagen climate meet: Hasina

Thimpu, Bhutan: Bangladesh will prominently raise the issue of suffering of South Asian countries including Bangladesh caused by global warming in the upcoming Copenhagen Climate Change Meet.

The prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, said this when she had an audience with former king of Bhutan Jigme Singye Wangchuk at his palace in Thimpu Sunday morning on the third day of her four-day official visit to the Himalayan state.

Hasina calls for realistic fund for climate victims

The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, has called for establishing a realistic fund for Bangladesh and other least developed and developing countries for their climate change requirements.

Addressing the European Development Days’ 2009 events, she also said the financing to the climate victim nations should not be loans, and the scale of finance should be revised with changes in the adaptation needs.
